Town Centre Retailers put on a “Cracking Good Christmas” in Tunbridge Wells

The countdown to the seasonal celebrations features a comprehensive campaign to promote Tunbridge Wells as a destination town.

An early Christmas gift has been announced in the form of FREE parking in all Borough car parks to support late night shopping from 15th till 23rd December between 4pm and 8.30pm. In addition, free parking will also be offered on both 13th November and the 11th December to support Town Centre festive events.

The first key date for your diary is Thursday 13th November with the arrival of Santa at Royal Victoria Place and the switching on of the Christmas Lights across the Town Centre. Santa will be kicking off his six week stay at West Kent’s largest shopping centre by taking a tour of the town in his beautiful horse-drawn sleigh before taking up residence in his “Enchanted Forest” which will be open every day until 24th December.

Ice skating in the park returns to Calverley Grounds from Friday 21st November until the 4th January and both adults and children alike can experience the excitement of live theatre at the Assembly Hall
Theatre’s annual traditional pantomime. Peter Pan opens Friday 12th December until Sunday 4th January.

On Thursday 11th December there will be a High Street Christmas event until 9pm where the businesses in the High Street, Grove Hill Road and Chapel Place unite to create a truly magical experience with carol singers, festive drinks and nibbles. A Christmas Treasure Hunt Map will be available until Christmas Eve for intrepid explorers who can spot clues in High Street windows to win a prize.

The catalogue of events continue in the Pantiles during the three December weekends. There will be Christmas markets featuring local farmers and artisans with all the essential ingredients and many special treats for entertaining for friends and family. The ambience of this historic area of the town is a magnet for visitors from around the world and the picture postcard images of reindeers, market stalls and a busy bustling market is an important highlight of the festive season in Tunbridge Wells.

This is just a small selection of the festive events that Tunbridge Wells will be hosting, keep an eye out for further announcements.
