Blind Veterans UK Supporter. Long distance walker Janet Brummer sets sights on Blind Veterans UK.
On June 22nd 2013 53 year old Janet Brummer, sports masseur from the Natural Health Centre in Crowborough is due to walk 100k from London to Brighton to raise money for Blind Veterans UK, the national charity supporting ex service men and women who have been blinded in action.
Janet first started walking as a leisurely sport to keep fit in 2004 and went on to join walking groups in Sussex, including ‘The Sussex 12 miler’s’ and Long Distance Walking Association.
In 2008 Janet walked her first marathon which was the Beachy Head marathon: ‘we had an exhilarating day, walking over the South Downs with its challenging hills and climbs and stunning views. At the end of the 26 miles we were very tired and could not wait to get home and have a therapeutic soak in the bath and ease our aching muscles.’
Janet then got the Marathon bug and continued to walk a variety of other marathons raising money for all kinds of charities, including Breast Cancer, Cancer Research and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
The Blind Veterans 100k will be a huge challenge, as Janet is expected to walk continuously for 24 hours through day and night.
Her 3 sons: Wayne 29, Karl 27 and Kieran 20 will be waiting at the finish to congratulate her.
On 7th and 8th of June Janet and her colleague Sandra potter will be raising added funds for the Blind Veterans UK by providing mini treatments at The Natural Health Centre, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to help yourself and others.
