New Conductor for the Philomel Singers

The Tonbridge-based Philomel Singers have started the year with a new conductor and are looking forward to their Annual Charitable  Concert on 15th June 2013  and to performing at various venues before that.  Tim Daniell began taking rehearsals in January and is working the choir hard to get a repertoire for the coming year.

Having been a Chorister at Gloucester Cathedral, Tim then studied music at King’s College, London before spending fifteen years teaching in Hertfordshire and then moving to Kent as Director of Music at Walthamstow Hall in Sevenoaks, where he taught for 24 years. A former examiner for A Level, he has also sung in several local choirs, played in orchestras and conducted, and for more than forty years has been Stage Manager for the Three Choirs Festival and, since 2006, for the annual English Music Festival. Well-known in the Incorporated Society of Musicians, he was Warden of Music in Education in 2007, having previously served as ISM Chairman for Kent and the South East area.

Mr Daniell said” It is a really delightful choir to work with and I urge anyone interested in singing to join us – Wednesday afternoons at 2 pm in Tonbridge Church.”

The Choir is delighted to have Tim with us and are looking forward to an   improved standard of choral singing. The Choir would be delighted to hear from any local organisation wishing to hear the Choir perform for any engagement after 1st May 2013.

The choir has vacancies for all voices particularly tenors and basses, anybody  interested should contact Sheila Burrow on 01732-351651 for further details
