Hooves for Hospice: A day at the races with Hospice in the Weald

Hooves for Hospice: A day at the races with Hospice in the Weald

the Weald Hospice in is holding its first ever Charity Race Day at Lingfield Park Racecourse on Saturday 2 March 2013.

Hooves for Hospice follows on from the success of Hospice in the Weald’s corporate dinners – Red8 and the Torchlight Dinner – which raised much needed funds for the charity.

“We are inviting local companies and our supporters to join us for a day of fast furlongs, furious flutters and phenomenal fundraising,” says Rob Woolley, Chief Executive of Hospice in the Weald. “The aim is to create a fantastic day for entertaining guests and enjoying the special atmosphere of a top-class racing event, while encouraging support for Hospice in the Weald and raising funds for our services.”

The day will consist of a Champagne reception and three-course lunch in the beautiful surroundings of Lingfield Park Racecourse, with a live auction.

“Guests will then be free to enjoy an afternoon at the races and we’ll have our very own tipster on hand to give people a few tips,” says Rob.

Included in the racecard will be the exciting Hospice in the Weald Charity Race for amateur jockeys – who will be raising sponsorship in order to take part in the race. They will be given training beforehand.

Hospice in the Weald is looking for companies and individuals to buy a table at the Charity Race Day, while there are also a variety of sponsorship opportunities available.

Hooves for Hospice is being held in association with The Marketing Eye – which helped Hospice in the Weald to organise both Red8 and the Torchlight Dinner.

“We are delighted to once again be supporting Hospice in the Weald’s annual corporate event,” says Neil Edwards, Managing Director of The Marketing Eye. “There is excellent promotion and advertising potential in Hooves for Hospice – including television coverage – and you will be seen to be associated with one of the highest profile local charities which touches the lives of many people. Make a date in your diary. There is nothing like a day at the races.”

Adds Emma Whittington, Events Co-ordinator, Hospice in the Weald: “We are looking forward to hearing from anyone who would like to support our Charity Race Day. We need to raise £5 million each year to ensure our services can continue and we rely on the support we receive from our local community.”

Southborough & District Lion Club.

We are pleased to report our Santa’s Sleigh house to house street collections have collected another great amount of £2852.00

This is absolutely fantastic and despite the current economic situation people are still very generous. This is only achieved by the hard work of club members going out in the dark nights braving the wind and rain, many which I am sure would have preferred to be tucked up in bed!

The money as in previous years has been used to buy food hampers which have already been given out before Christmas to the needy folk in the area which our club serves; the balance funded the annual seniors Tea Party held in January.

On behalf of Southborugh & District Lions Club we thank you for your continued generosity
