Beacon Academy Student Support Team win Sussex Wellbeing Team of the Year Award

Beacon Academy teaching and support staff have been recognised and celebrated for their outstanding contribution to the education and wellbeing of all students at the Sussex Teacher of the Year Awards. Now in its second year in Sussex, the Sussex Teacher of the Year Awards, organised by children’s charity, School Inspirational Services, celebrates the achievements of educators, support staff and school volunteers across the county.

This year’s winners from Beacon Academy were honoured at the prestigious Sussex Teacher of the Year Awards dinner at Jurys Inn Hotel in Brighton on Thursday 27 June. Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages, Mrs Aya Rowe was presented with the Wealden Newly Qualified Teacher of the Year Award and Assistant Head of Year 7, Miss Ashleigh McCormack, Assistant Head of Years 12 and 13, Mr Gary Williams, Head of Year 12, Mr Charles Howarth and Behaviour, Safeguarding and Welfare Manager, Mrs Jane Prowse were presented with the Wealden Wellbeing Team of the Year Award on behalf of the school’s outstanding Student Support Team for Years 7 – 13.

In addition to this, Beacon Academy Student Support Team were honoured to be selected for the overall Sussex Wellbeing Team of the Year Award.

On behalf of the twelve individual members of Beacon Academy staff nominated by students, parents and colleagues, Beacon Academy would like to thank everyone that voted!
