Beacon Academy Sixth Form Summer Open Evening
In advance of Beacon Academy’s traditional Sixth Form Open Evening planned for autumn 2021, students preparing to progress to Further Education are invited to attend the Sixth Form Summer Open Evening on Thursday 1st July at 4:00pm.
This introductory event presents an initial opportunity for prospective students and their parent or carer to visit the Academy’s Sixth Form Centre on Green Lane, to talk with specialist subject leaders and members of the Sixth Form team about the excellent range of courses and opportunities on offer post-16 and how to combine their skills and interests into the package that is right for them.
Upon arrival, visitors will be welcomed by Assistant Headteachers Post-16, Dr Katrina Grossman and Mr Charles Howarth, additional members of the Senior Leadership Team and the Academy’s dedicated team of Sixth Form support staff. Visitors will then be encouraged to explore the Sixth Form Centre to find out more about the outstanding pastoral care and expert guidance available to Sixth Form students as they develop as independent learners and prepare to progress to university, apprenticeships or employment.
Student-led subject presentations in the Canteen will enable visitors to gain further insight into Sixth Form life and the courses that interest them. Experienced Careers Education staff and our coordinator for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award will also be on-hand to answer questions and dispense specialist advice.
Via the Beacon Academy website, students and their parents and carers will be able to watch subject presentations created by Heads of Department, access detailed course information and additional resources and hear from current and former students about life at Sixth Form.
A spokesperson from Beacon Academy commented, “We are incredibly proud of our students’ attainment and progress in the Sixth Form. These exceptional outcomes have ensured that our hardworking and determined students have been able to secure their futures at their first choice destinations, including the most prestigious academic and creative institutions, or high quality training or employment.”
